Now if you design a TH for 70 hz, you can use it from 35 hz up to 140 hz, and that could match up to your 142hz front Upper Bass horn. With this solution you completely eliminate the need for a Folded horn midbass channel, that ...
Congratulations you have found and use this principle, otherwise the back chamber acts like pneumatic brake for the lower working range of the diaphragm!
Actually it shall act as “pneumatic brake” in a compression dr...
Are you planning to drive the SS lower than the frequency gained by the box? I don't remember the older drivers having long Xmax and/or high BL, or high mms, so multiple drivers and likely more power, not to mention biased X/O, ...

I've had a pair of PM4 and GOTO SG30W sitting by cupboard for several years now and instead of just watchinng the foam rot on the Lowthers, I was thinking of slapping the lot into a sealed box for fun. The PM4 would have it's own chamber of course.&n...

Yes, Sakuma seemed to enjoy delivering some It via "old methods". But he was able to do it not because he used the old methods but because he could use his ears to home in on It. For many years I used Fulton speakers, and Bob Fulton was another one w...

I would like to add this driver to a good driver list:HiVi D10G 10" Kevlar/Paper Woofer, it is sold at parts-express.com and it was one of a few drivers that I ordered for a personal shoot-out. Ignoring the fact that it is yellow and that it makes hu...

OK, that all makes good theoretical sense, and the theories are borne out in terms of sound with OB, BR and sealed LF. But how many people have heard a long horn that was not compromised in fact by what could generically be described as "self-noise"...

I agree the dipol is generally a wrong direction for entire speaker system but I thought it a good way to evaluate a specific driver's sound and character. I am I wrong here? The box should only increase the bass range and provide additional damping....

I finally set it up new Tannoy Red best Twitters. They are sealed irregular shape and purely themselves do not sound bad. They do not have the full range feeling as they had with passive radiator and had a typical red sound of late Autumn leaves....

Thanks for posting the Vandersteen interview. It inspired me to try once more to tame my TAD 1601sthat reside in sealed 3cuft boxes. It worked, but the numbersare slightly shocking. 12mH translates to 100Hz, and 25 uFon 4 Ohm Altec 290’s in 260 Hz hor...

My man, I am convinced that all you need is time (OK, and money...), and soon you will be dividing that time between full-tilt Beowulf in your lair and spending the ticket money you've saved (clever you!) on La Tache&nbs...

Looks like the phase response is quite complicated, with two phase flips between the knee and the Fs notch, but the PR phase eventually comes back to be in phase below the Fs:

Well, I do not like any
none-sealed enclosure. From my perspective IB box is also sealed and I am not against
it. It is not about the sealing of encloses but about absence of contra-phase feedback
that is always there in any other topologies. Ther...

Ronny, it is funny because I was juts about to carve my further observations about the Sound of my monitors. Last night I was listening Rigoletto by Callas and Gobbi on my monitor. I come to an interesting observation that I would like Monitors...

What would be most interesting would be to capitalize on the possiblity you have to make use of the basement volume as an enclosure for the lower-bass channels. This wold however, almost certainly introduce floor vibrations requring that you find...
